Sneaky Professional: Why I Wear Bedrock Mountain Clogs to Teach

I'll admit it: when I first picked up a pair of Bedrock Mountain Clogs, I bought them for the trailhead, not the lecture hall.
Two years later, they're what I wear to work.
I'm a professor, and like most people with a job that keeps you on your feet, standing in front of a classroom, walking across campus, sitting through meetings, I've spent a lot of time looking for a shoe that checks two boxes: comfortable enough for a full day, and polished enough that nobody stops to look at it. Most shoes manage one. These manage both.
I call it sneaky professional.
They Look the Part
From across a room, the Mountain Clog reads like a good leather shoe. The leather upper is clean and simple. There are no neon accents, no mesh panels, nothing that screams "I just came off a trail." Pair them with chinos or slacks and they blend right into a faculty meeting.
Look a little closer and you'll notice the details that give them away: the adjustable strap, the lugged Vibram® sole. Those are the parts that make them a different kind of shoe.
They Feel Like Nothing Else I Own
Here's what makes them work for a long day:
- Zero drop. Your heel and toes sit at the same height, so you stand and walk the way your feet naturally want to. After a day of teaching, I notice it.
- A cushy midsole. Bedrock stacked real cushioning on top of the sole, so they're comfortable on hard hallway floors and concrete campus walkways, not just dirt.
- Vibram® Megagrip outsole. The same grippy rubber you'd want on wet rock. On a rainy day crossing campus, that matters more than you'd think.
- The 3-point adjustable strap. It's the same strap system from Bedrock's sandals. Snug it up and they stay put; loosen it and they slip on and off in seconds.
Sizing: True to Size
If you're on the fence about ordering, here's the most useful thing I can tell you: they fit true to size. Order your normal size. The adjustable strap handles the rest.
Two Years In
I'm in year two with my pair, and they're still in my daily rotation. They're built to last, and Bedrock has a Re-Soul program, so when the sole eventually wears down you can have it replaced instead of buying a whole new pair. For a shoe I wear this much, that's a big deal.
Who They're For
If your job keeps you on your feet but expects you to look put-together (teachers, professors, nurses, anyone in an office who'd rather be outside), these are worth a look. And when the workday's over, they're ready for the trail.
